The Academic and Cultural Activity cell of Shah Satnam Ji College Of Education , Sirsa in association with Alumnae of the college organized a cultural fest “Teeyan Da Mela” on the occasion of Teej festival. Teeyan da Mela is a vibrant and culturally rich festival celebrated primarily in Punjab and among Punjabi communities worldwide. It coincides with the teej festival, which mark the advent of the monsoon season and dedicated to the celebration of womanhood, particularly married woman. It is celebrated with enthusiasm and joy, providing a platform for women to come together, express themselves and participate in various cultural activities.

The stage was conducted by Mrs. Gurjot Kaur. The program was started with the introduction to “TEEYAN TEEJ DIYAN” followed by cultural performances like Giddha, dance and singing by the students and alumnae of Shah Satnam Ji College Of Education, Sirsa. After that Principal Dr. Rajni Bala welcomed all the students and alumnae for their participation in this festival.

The students/alumnae who participated in dance performances were: –

There were some games organized by Dr. Meenakshi (Associate professor) for the entertainment of audience as well as members of staff.

The main attraction of teeyan da mela was traditional Giddha .The administrator man Dr. Charanpreet Kaur Dhillon threw light on this traditional festival and involved all the women in this Giddha performance . The songs/boliyan sung during Giddha often reflect social issues, love and everyday life. Swings known as peengh were essential part of celebration. All enjoyed the beautifully decorated swings hung from trees.

The mela is incomplete without delicious food. So matthiyan, samosa offered to all the guests.And also the stalls of bangles , prandi and mehandi were there .

At last Principal Dr. Rajni Bala and Administrator Dr. Charanpreet Kaur Dhillon thanked all the students and alumnae and took a meeting with alumnae to invite their suggestions and discussed about alumnae association and also presented token of love to winners of games and participants of cultural programme.

Overall,It was a day filled with joy. Everyone enjoyed a lot.
